PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of saving power and improving cooling efficiency. SOLUTION: In this refrigerator 1 including a cooler 20 in which fins 22 are fixed at prescribed intervals in a refrigerant tube 21 meandering in several stages, a cooler chamber 13b provided with the cooler 20 and having an inflow section 3c to which the cold air flows from a storage compartment 3, at its lower section, a defrosting heater 31 disposed at a lower part of the cooler 20 for defrosting the cooler 20, and a temperature sensor 25 for detecting a temperature of the cooler 20, periodically performing a defrosting operation for driving the defrosting heater 31, and discriminating a stop period of the defrosting motor 31 on the basis of a detection temperature of the temperature sensor 25, the temperature sensor 25 is disposed between the center in the vertical direction, of the cooler 20 and the inflow section 3c.
