PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a levee protection method that can prevent a burst of a levee more easily than a hooping method, and a channel with a cover used for the method. SOLUTION: The channel with the cover includes a channel provided along the levee; a channel cover for covering the upper face of the channel in normal use; and a cover fitting ditch provided along the channel on the levee outside land side from the channel. The channel cover can be erected by fitting the end of the channel cover into the cover fitting ditch. The levee protection method using the channel with the cover includes erecting the channel cover by fitting the end of the channel cover into the cover fitting ditch, installing an outflow preventing means between the erected channel cover and the back slope face of the levee, and damming up water leaking from the levee in an area surrounded by the erected channel cover, the back slope face of the levee and the outflow preventing means.
