PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out reconstruction processing that reduces distortion of an object tissue due to motion. SOLUTION: A distortion evaluating section 24 measures a time change of the shape of an object tissue due to motion at a plurality of positions arranged along the moving direction of a scanning surface within a reconstructed image. The distortion evaluating section 24 then evaluates distortion of the reconstructed image by comparing a plurality of time changes acquired from the plurality of positions. A frame interval for forming a reconstructed image is changed in a stepwise fashion and distortion is evaluated for each step. Reconstruction processing is carried out by using an optimal frame interval which gives the smallest distortion among all the frame intervals and a reconstructed image is formed.
