PURPOSE: A composition containing Galgeuntang and Lactobacillus-fermented Galgeuntang is provided to treat liver toxicity and to be used as a health food. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing Galgeuntang comprises a step of mixing 2-10 weight parts of Ephedrae Herba 2-10 weight parts of Zingiberis Rhizoma crudus, 2-10 weight parts of jujube, 1-7 weight parts of glycyrrhizae radix, 1-7 weight parts of Cinnamomi Ramulus, and 1-7 weight parts of Paeoniae Radix. A Lactobacillus-fermented Galgeuntang is prepared by inoculating Lactobacillus to the Galgeuntang, and fermenting. The Lactobacillus Bipidobacterium, Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Leuconostoc, Pediococcus or Lactococcus. A composition for preventing live toxicity contains Galgeuntang or Lactobacillus-fermented Galgeuntang as an active ingredient.
