<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a park lock mechanism to be built in while avoiding the enlargement of a drive unit in the axial direction in building the park lock mechanism in the drive unit. <P>SOLUTION: The rotation of an electric motor 4 reaches from a rotor 7 to a wheel 10 via an input shaft 8, a planetary gear set type reduction gear 5, and an output shaft 9. A parking gear 32 for the park locking of the wheel 10 is fixed on the input shaft 8. A parking pawl 33, which extends in the tangential direction below the parking gear 32, is pivotally supported on a housing body 1 by a shaft 35. When the parking pawl 33 is rocked with its back surface 33b pressed by a conical cam 34b of a park lock rod 34, a claw 33a engages with the parking gear 32 to park lock the wheel 10. The parking gear 32, the parking pawl 33, and the park lock rod 34 constituting the park rock mechanism 31 are arranged at the inside circumferential side of a stator 6 in the axial position overlapping in the radial direction to the stator 6 of the electric motor 4.
