<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase safety by enabling a passenger getting into and out of a vehicle to easily recognize that an opening/closing member such as an electric sliding door is in closing motion, and as a result, to solve a problem caused by a condition inherent in a pressure-sensing type pinching detector wherein a certain amount of loads are necessary. <P>SOLUTION: The pinching detector consists of at least: a pressure-sensing-type pinching detection part 25 provided along an edge of the end of the electric sliding door 12 opening/closing for detecting the pinching of the electric sliding door 12 by detecting electrical resistance which changes due to the deformation of its shape by being brought into contact with and pressed by a human body or an object; and a light-emitting part 23 provided in the longitudinal direction of the pinching detection part 25 so that it can emit light along the edge of the end of the electric sliding door 12.
