<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To interlock input content read from a document written in various formats with an application system. <P>SOLUTION: Position information, etc., showing the position of a specific item included in a document is stored as format metadata for each the specific item, in a format metadata storing part 14 for each the document. The position information based on the position of the specific item is determined from image data obtained by reading the document, and whether a specific item included in the document input as the image data is registered in the format metadata is determined by collating the position information with the format metadata. If the specific item included in the document input as the image data does not coincide with the format metadata, the position information of the specific item is registered as new format metadata in the format metadata storing part. When the specific item coincides with the format metadata, contents included in the specific item are converted into character data.
