PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a profile correction method for improving stability of gray color without frequently performing calibration. SOLUTION: A printer forms a gray patch and measure colors (S201, S202). An output color value of a device profile of the printer is corrected so that the value does not exceed an a*-direction margin value and a b*-direction margin value (S205 to S212) when an a* value of the measured color value exceeds the a*-direction margin value or a b* value exceeds the b*-direction margin value (S204: NO). In the a*-direction margin value and the b*-direction margin value, even when a predicted maximal change occurs in the amount of CMY toner due to temporal change, a value is set so that both a* and b* values of an image do not exceed 0.
