PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting resin composition suitable for molding a composite material excellent in mechanical properties such as heat resistance and toughness and a prepreg using the thermosetting resin composition. SOLUTION: The thermosetting resin composition includes, as the indispensable components, 5-50 pts.wt. of (component [A]) thermoplastic composite fine particles which have an average particle size of 5-70μm and are obtained by kneading 1-90 wt.% of silicone fine particles with an average particle size of 1-12μm and 99-10 wt.% of a thermoplastic resin, 100 pts.wt. of (component [B]) a thermosetting resin, 20-50 pts.wt. of (component [C]) a hardener, and 5-80 pts.wt. of (component [D]) a thermoplastic resin other than component [A].
