Disclosed are a system and method for generating RGB primaries for a wide color gamut, and a color encoding system using RGB primaries. The system for generating RGB primaries generates a color gamut, the coverage of which satisfies a color gamut coverage threshold value, and which satisfies a unique hue, and which has maximum color gamut efficiency and minimum quantization efficiency, thereby obtaining a wide color gamut.
