PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounted piezoelectric oscillator in which reliability is more improved by eliminating a trouble caused by the tilting of a piezoelectric vibrating reed. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a piezoelectric oscillator 1 including: a rectangular piezoelectric vibrating reed with an exciting electrode formed therein; an electronic component 3; a base 4 with an outer wall, an opening and an internal housing formed therein; and a cover for covering the opening of the base to which hermetical seal is applied by covering the opening of the base with the cover. The base has the housing and an insulated holder 42 on which the piezoelectric vibrating reed is packaged. In the holder, there are formed electrode pads 51, 52 bonded with the piezoelectric vibrating reed, and an insulated auxiliary holding part overlapped with a partial side of the piezoelectric vibrating reed. In the auxiliary holding part, there is formed a contact avoiding portion with which the exciting electrode of the piezoelectric vibrating reed contacts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
