An injectable essentially non aqueous (i.e. having a water content of 0 - 10%) medicinal composition, comprises at least one of the oil soluble vitamin A esters chosen from the propionate, butyrate and valerate and an oil- and water-soluble polyoxethylene material, in conc. of at least 25% by weight of the vitamin(s) and may be up to 20 times the vitamin(s) weight. The polyoxethylene material may be a polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester or a polyoxyethylated vegetable oil, these promote absorption of the vitamin A esters. In addition the composition may contain vitamin A acetate and/or vitamin D or E active cpds. an antioxidant, an antimicrobial and a viscosity reducing agent. Such cpsns. are useful in veterinary medicine, for supplying in an injectable formulation, vitamin A esters, to cattle poultry and domestic animals. |
