<p>Preliminary concentration by evaporation is effected by running sea-water slowly down an area of gently sloping ground and recycling until a density of 25 degrees BE is attained; the liquor is then passed to a crystallisation reservoir which is covered by a sheet of laminated, flexible material which absorbs radiant solar energy. The covering sheet may be black plastics material, nylon or linen. Pref., final crystallisation takes place on top of the flexible sheet which is coverned to a depth of 2-3 mm with liquor drawn from the top of the reservoir.</p> |
