Moulding compositions comprise polypropylene and 0À5 to 60 parts by weight per 100 parts of polymer of an acetate of a transition metal or a non-transition metal of Group II, III or IV of the Periodic Table. Specified acetates are zinc, cadmium, tin (II), lead (II), titanium (III), vanadium (III), chromium (III), manganese (IV), copper (I), copper (II), silver (I), gold (I), mercury (II), germanium (IV), aluminium (III), zirconium (IV), hafnium (IV), thorium (III), niobium (III), tantalum (III), molybdenum (V), tungsten (IV), uranium (III), chromium (II), iron (II), cobalt (II), osmium (V), magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium and double acetates, e.g. zinc cobalt (II) and magnesium chromium (III) double acetates. Preferred polypropylenes have intrinsic viscosities of 3 to 20. The compositions may be made into films and sheets. |
