The invention comprises anthraquinone dyestuffs containing two to four auxochromic substituents in the α-positions and an acyloxy group in the #-position. Specified auxochromic substituents are amino, alkylamino, arylamino, acylamino, - " hydroxy, ' alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylmercapto or arylmercapto groups. Specified acyloxy groups are aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic or carbonic acid esters, aliphatic or aromatic sulphonic acid ester or N;N-dialkylamino-sulphonic acid ester groups. 'They may be obtained by acylating the appropriate #- hydroxy-anthraquinone compound with a reactive derivative -of an aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic or sulphonic acid or with a halocarbonic acid ester. The reaction may be carried out in an organic solvent or in an aqueous medium in the presence of an acid-binding agent. Numerous examples are given for the preparation of the dyestuffs. They are useful for dyeing synthetic fibres blue, red, violet, orange and green shades. |
