<p>A nanopore membrane 100 comprises a membrane 130 having a thickness and first and second sides, and a nanopore 120 extending through the membrane to form a channel. The membrane material is selected from a group consisting of glass, Si, SiO2, Si4N4, quartz, alumina, nitrides, metals and polymers. The surface properties of at least one of the first or second sides of the membrane or the channel are modified to change at least one of an electrical charge density, hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity property thereof.</p> |
