PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to prevent the exposure of a negative electrode plate, the damage of a negative electrode active material, physical short of a positive electrode plate. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly(12) including a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, and a separator(14) interposed therebetween; a can(10) of which one side is opened in order to accommodate the electrode assembly; a cap assembly(20) sealing the opened part of the can; and an insulating case(70) which is located between the electrode assembly and the cap assembly and is inserted into the upper part of the can. A groove portion(19) is formed at the inner side of the can and a protrusion(71) is formed at the outer side of the insulating case contacting the position where the groove portion is formed. |
