PACKET TRANSPORT SWITCH CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING VIRTUAL PRIVATE LAN SERVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A packet transport switch capable of supporting VPLS(Virtual Private LAN Service) and a method for operating the same are provided to offer a connection-oriented route, and perform MAC(Media Access Control) address learning, and flooding operation. CONSTITUTION: An I-component(200) performs transforming operation between a subscriber frame and an I-tag frame. If the subscriber frame received from the local and backbone network is an unregistered frame, the I-component performs MAC(Media Access Control) address learning, and flooding operation. A B-component(300) performs conversion operation between the I-tag frame and the backbone frame. The B-component transmits the backbone frame to the connection-oriented route. The B-component transmits the I-tagged frame to the I-component.
