REFERENCE FRAME SELECTION METHOD FOR VIDEO CODING

摘要

PURPOSE: A reference frame selection method for video coding is provided to properly select the number of reference frames for mode estimation based on the correlation of a temporal complexity between a current frame and a previous frame. CONSTITUTION: A reference region for a current macro block is searched from previous frames(S10). Based on optimum reference frame information of the reference region, temporal complexity is calculated(S11). The range of a candidate reference frame of the current macro block is determined(S12). A mode determining process of the current macro block is performed(S13).
