[Also in Division C4] Polymers are coloured with azo dyes of the formula wherein R 1 represents a benzene radical which contains no carboxylic acid anilide group in m-position to the azo group and no CF 3 when R 3 is a phenylene residue, R 2 represents a naphthalene residue in which the azo, OH, and amide groups are in 1,2,3-positions, R 3 represents a phenylene or diphenylene residue in which the -NH- and -CO- groups are p-position to each other and R 4 represents H, CH 3 or aryl that is free from benzoylamino groups. Specified polymers are polyolefins including polyvinyl chloride and polyacrylonitrile. An example is given in which stabilized, plasticized polyvinyl chloride is pigmented. |
