1-Methylsulphonyl 1-mercury aletoxy 2-methoxy ethane biocide for treatment of industrial wastes Title cpds of formula (1) is used as an industrial biocide esp. for water treatment in the paper and tanning industries and is prepd by the condensation of methyl vinyl sulphone with mercuric acetate in the presence of acetic acid and methanol and pref. also in the presence of benzoyl peroxide. It has high antibacterial activity and s of low toxicity towards man and warm blooded animals.
