<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correctly calculating developing DC bias voltage suitable for high density by substituting a halftone patch, while setting a duty ratio of developing AC bias to a condition other than reference. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for controlling an image forming apparatus, a low-density halftone patch is created as a toner image on a photoreceptor while keeping a state of a reference duty ratio that developing contrast potential and toner adhesive amount show linear characteristics, and the toner adhesive amount of the halftone patch is obtained based on a result of detection by a detection means in such a case. Target developing contrast potential in accordance with a target toner adhesive amount at high density is obtained based on the characteristics of the toner adhesive amount and the developing contrast potential; and reference developing DC bias voltage in a state that the developing AC bias shows the reference duty ratio is obtained based on the target developing contrast potential. Developing DC bias voltage in a state in which the duty ratio of the developing AC bias is changed, is determined, based on the characteristics showing the change of the toner adhesive amount resulting from the change of the duty ratio of the developing AC bias, and the reference developing DC bias voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
