PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit including a structure capable of surely avoiding electric contact between a shaft and a coil, and to provide an image forming apparatus that incorporates the fixing unit. SOLUTION: The fixing unit for fixing a toner image onto a sheet passing between an object to be heated and a pressing body includes a looped coil surface; an upright wall 213 erected from an opening region whose contour is defined by an inner edge of the coil surface; a center core disposed along the opening region; and a nonconductive cap 829 inserted into the opening being formed in the upright wall. The center core includes a conductive shaft and a magnetic tube, and the nonconductive cap partially covers the conductive and electrically insulate the coil from the conductive shaft.
