摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of improving visibility of a low gradation region in a composition changing brightness of backlight on the basis of brightness information of a video. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: an APL curve setting part and a histogram brightness modulation part for regulating backlight brightness and a gradation signal on the basis of average brightness of the video and brightness spectrum of the video; and a black elongation part for correcting the gradation signal regulated with the histogram brightness modulation part in gamma on the basis of a previously set gamma value. The liquid crystal display sets a gamma characteristic used for the gamma correction by selecting the gamma value corresponding to combination on the basis of the combination of the backlight brightness regulated with the histogram brightness modulation part and environmental illuminance of an installation place of a liquid crystal panel, and corresponding information indicating corresponding relationship with a plurality of the gamma values ofγ2.0-2.4.
