PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the openability of a multifilament by which the openability of the multifilament can readily and quantitatively be evaluated, and to provide an apparatus for the evaluation. SOLUTION: The method or apparatus for evaluating the openability of the multifilament just after the opening treatment of the multifilament includes the following means (a), (b), and (c): (a) means for bonding the multifilament just after the opening treatment onto a base material having fine adhesiveness; (b) means for taking an image of the opened filament bonded to the base material under a constant light-projection condition; and (c) means for calculating the proportion of regions of the multifilament opened and separated to the thickness of a simple monofilament in the opened filaments by image analysis of the taken image.
