PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent contact of adjacent solar battery panels due to shock by surrounding the peripheral edges of the solar battery panels with cushioning pads and to enable insertion of the peripheral edges of solar battery panels into the recesses of pads by positioning the pads in predetermined positions in the outer case. SOLUTION: The packing material includes: the lower and upper corner pads 20 and 30 of substantially L-shaped cross-sections, which support the four corners of each solar battery panel P; an outer case 10 accommodating in an upright position the solar battery panel P with the four corners supported by the pads 20 and 30; and the bottom pad 40 and top pad 50, which are made of foam resin. Each of the bottom pad 40 and top pad 50 has such a shape that when the pair of lower corner pads 20 and the pair of upper corner pads 30 respectively are arranged opposite to each other, the lower pad and the top pad are fitted between the opposite bottom plates of the lower corner pads and the opposite upper plates of the upper corner pads respectively. With each pad fitted between the corresponding plates, each pad and the corresponding pair of corner pads are positioned relative to each other so as to restrict their free movement.
