PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a rotary angle detection mechanism for a piezoelectric element group by reducing operation sound in operation so as to eliminate an unpleasant feeling in a patient. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic probe includes; the piezoelectric element group 1 where a plurality of oblong piezoelectric elements 1a are aligned in a long axial direction; and a rotary mechanism 2 for rocking the piezoelectric group 1 to the right and left in a short axial direction with the long axial direction as a center. The rotary mechanism 2 includes: a first bevel gear 8a with a circular shape in a plan view; a second bevel gear 8b to be suitable for the first bevel gear 8a and rotated in a horizontal direction; a driving motor 10 for rotating the second bevel gear 8b via a rotary shaft 9; and a reference position detection sensor 20 for detecting the reference position in the short axial direction of the piezoelectric element group 1. The rotary shaft 9 of the second bevel gear 8b is connected to the rotaty shaft 10a of the driving motor 10 by pulley-connection using a timing belt 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
