摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material for a gas diffusion electrode, which exhibits high conductivity, gas permeability, and high water-repellency without using fluorine and to provide a method of manufacturing the material and an MEA containing the material. <P>SOLUTION: Each base material 18, 20 for a gas diffusion electrode contains carbon fibers 26, carbon fine particles 28, and acrylic silicon resin 30. The respective carbon fibers 26 are joined by the acrylic silicon resin 30 with the carbon fine particles 28 interposed therebetween. Therefore, the base materials 18, 20 for the gas diffusion electrode have an advantage of the high water-repellency without containing fluorine using a water-repellency of the acrylic silicon resin 30 itself. In addition, since the base materials 18, 20 for the gas diffusion electrode are porus and are formed of many carbon fibers 26 and carbon fine particles 28, they exhibits high gas permeability. Also, the carbon fine particles 28 is contained in the material, which enhances the conductivity between the carbon fibers 26 and results in the materials to have high conductivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
