PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting a magnesium concentration in an aluminum alloy by adding aluminum oxide (alumina) particles into a molten aluminum alloy or a molten metal of a composite material of a particle-dispersed aluminum alloy and by depleting the magnesium component in the molten aluminum alloy by a reaction with the aluminum oxide particles. SOLUTION: This production method includes adding aluminum oxide particles (alumina particles) into the magnesium-containing molten aluminum alloy, and reacting the aluminum oxide particle with magnesium in the aluminum alloy so as to adjust the magnesium content or disperse composite particles of aluminum magnesium oxide (spinel) and aluminum oxide in the melt.
