PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that jam caused by recording medium jamming affects a recording device, in the recording device attaining print to the recording medium by carrying the recording medium with a reciprocation driving part of a carriage and a carrying roller. SOLUTION: A cause of the recording medium jamming is detected before occurrence of the recording medium jamming that causes drive of the carriage to be impossible, and the carriage is driven in a direction different from an advancing direction to retreat the carriage from the above of the recording medium when the cause of the recording medium jamming is detected. The cause of the recording medium jamming is discharged by the carrying roller, to reduce influence of jam caused by disorder of the recording medium on the recording device.
