PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which can prevent an auxiliary table from intervening in parts of the head and permits the auxiliary table to be easily attached and detached when the auxiliary table is moved with respect to a sewing machine bed. SOLUTION: The sewing machine includes a guide member 56 provided in the sewing machine bed 11, and an engagement portion 55 provided in the auxiliary table 16 and movably engaging with the guide member 56. The auxiliary table 16 can move to a first position which is set in the rear side of the sewing machine bed 11 and is held parallel with the top face of the sewing machine bed 11 and a second position where it is detached from the sewing machine bed 11 in the front side of the sewing machine bed 11. When the auxiliary table 16 is located between the first position and the second position, the engagement of the guide member 56 with the engagement portion 55 restricts the inclination of the auxiliary table 16 with respect to the top face of the sewing machine bed 11 to a prescribed angle range.
