A transport system includes an electrically driven vehicle and a track therefor, the vehicle carrying an elongated prismatic current collector 10 which travels along a path defined by fixed conductors 14, 16, 18, 20, upon which bear slidable contacts 22, 24, 26, 28 of the collector, which are biased into engagement with the conductors, for example by springs. The collector may be of diamond (Fig. 1), square, or triangular cross-section, e.g. to suit the conductors in Fig. 6. The contacts may be staggered along the surface of the collector (Fig. 8) to ensure constant contact and to enable the conductors to guide the collector. The collector is attached to the vehicle by a flexible linkage which may include an intermediate carriage. |
