[Also in Division C2] A novel composition comprises synthetic sodium estrone sulphate in admixture with a water- and alcohol-soluble extract of pregnant mares' urine containing natural conjugated estrogens. The composition may additionally contain other hormonal products, antibiotics, tranquillizers, muscle-relaxants, and pharmaceutical carriers such as tricalcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, diatomaceous earth, silica gel, powdered cellulose, lactose, starch and sodium bicarbonate. The compositions may be prepared by mixing the components in methanol which is then evaporated. Detailed description of the preparation and purification of extracts of pregnant mares' urine is provided.
