PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a write-once optical disk, such as CD-R or DVD-R, which is not overwritable while being most popular as a recording medium and whose capacity is increasing in recent years, to employ error correction by retry or alternation and a write method, which has been conventionally employed by an overwritable optical disk, of allocating recording data received from a host device at any location on the disk regardless of unrecorded area and recorded area. SOLUTION: A recording method divides the recording area of the optical disk into a lead-in area, user area, and lead-out area by using physical addresses, sets an information area including pointers to a list table for managing logical addresses to be assigned to the whole user area in a part of the lead-in area, and configures a logical address management list table by arranging lists for showing correspondence between logical addresses and physical addresses in the user area, when recording digital data on the optical disk which has the physical addresses on the recordable area and is not overwritable.
