PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel biofuel cell capable of exhibiting excellent power generating capacity over a long period of time. SOLUTION: Of the biofuel cell having an electrode with an enzyme as a catalyst, the enzyme is a redox enzyme obtained from microorganisms having ability of oxidizing and reducing a nitro compound such as pseudomonas germs and bacilli, and as a fuel supplied to the electrode, solution or gas of the nitro compound or its combusted gas is used.
