PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle inspection apparatus performing inspection by taking a photograph of the side face of a vehicle, in particular, a vehicle inspection device forming an inspection image of the entire circumference of each wheel suitable for inspection, from among a plurality of partial images by correction, based on the rotation angles of the wheels among a plurality of cameras through measurement of the amount of abrasion that differs for each wheel, and the radius of the wheels. SOLUTION: The vehicle inspection apparatus includes an image acquisition device disposed along a railway track to photograph a wheel image of the side face of a wheel of a vehicle traveling along the railway track; an image-storing device for storing the image photographed by the image-photographing device; and an image-processing device for performing image processing. The image storing device preliminarily stores a facing image of a reference wheel without abrasion. The image-processing device generates a facing image that faces the wheel, by applying planar projective transformation to the wheel image obtained by the image acquisition device; estimates the position of an axle of the wheel in the facing image; and stores, in the image storage device, an image in which the estimated axle position is corrected to coincide with the axle position of the facing image of the reference wheel, without abrasion stored in the image storage means.
