758,901. Swivels. STANLEY, W. Nov. 24, 1954, No. 34029/54. Class 24. In a swivel for a fishing line having a male part consisting of a wire loop 15 and a head 13 connected by a shank 14, the female part is a wire loop 12 the ends of which are twisted in the same direction to form a hollow shank 20 which is retained on the shank 14 by the head 13. The turns of the female part are preferably wound on the opposite hand to a single twisted end 16 of the male part, which is flattened or ground down so that the respective parts, ride freely against each other. A washer may be interposed between the two parts. The shank 20 of the female part may be formed in situ by twisting the ends of the loop 12 around the shank 14 of the male part with clearance therefrom, or alternatively may be formed by twisting the ends of the loop 12 around a mandrel and then pushing the headed male part through the shank 20 before forming the loop 15. |
