PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new peroxide decomposing enzyme derived from lactobacillus.

SOLUTION: There is provided a peroxide decomposing enzyme A and/or B derived from Lactobacillus plantarum TY1572 strain (NITE P-90) and having the following physical and chemical properties. [Peroxide decomposing enzyme A] has (1) substrate specificity: exhibiting high reactivity with peroxides and reacting with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of NAD(P)H and (2) molecular weight: 43 kDa (measured by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) [Peroxide decomposing enzyme B] has (1) substrate specificity: exhibiting high reactivity with peroxides and reacting with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of NAD(P)H and (2) molecular weight: 48 kDa (measured by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis).
