PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for removing noise data from image data to be printed more highly accurately than by a conventional technique.

SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a reading means for reading image data; a counting means for counting the number of pixels having a predetermined luminance or lower for each position of a main scanning direction for the image data for the predetermined number of bands read by the reading means; a cumulative value calculation means for cumulating the number of pixels counted by the counting means for each position of the main scanning direction; a cumulative value storing means for storing the cumulative values cumulated in the cumulative value calculating means; and a print range determination means for deciding a print start position on the basis of the position at which the cumulative value exceeds a predetermined threshold value. In the image processing apparatus, if there is no pixel of the predetermined luminance value or lower, the cumulative value calculation means sets a value obtained by subtracting a predetermined value from the cumulative value at that time point as the cumulative value.
