PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for relaying symbols transferred by a transmission source to a destination in a radio cellular communication network. SOLUTION: The symbols are relayed by a relay station, the relay station receives symbols, the symbols are representative of coded bits derived from information bits. The relay station receives symbols, successfully decodes the information bits from the symbols, determines a spectral efficiency to be used for transferring symbols from the number of coded bits transferred by the transmission source prior the successful decoding of information bits, and transfers symbols using a modulation corresponding to the determined spectral efficiency.
