A PFC converter is provided in which the ripple of an inductor current can be controlled to improve the switching loss and which can be applied to high-power usages as well. When an inductor current flowing through an inductor (L1) reaches a first threshold value, a switching element (Q1) is turned off. When the inductor current reaches a second threshold value, the switching element (Q1) is turned on. A switching control circuit (35) is configured such that a reference value of the inductor current is established based on the detection results of an input voltage detecting circuit (11) and an output voltage detecting circuit (12) and that the first threshold value is generated by adding a predetermined value to the reference value, while the second threshold value is generated by subtracting the predetermined value from the reference value. |
