Provided are a transmitter apparatus, a receiver apparatus and the like wherein even if the conditions of the receptions of a plurality of streams become deteriorated at the same time, the contents can be switched and wherein the power consumption can be suppressed and further the packet-lost tolerance can be enhanced. The receiver apparatus comprises: a first receiving unit that receives a first stream by the given unit and extracts therefrom a first content data; a control unit that determines whether the first stream has been successfully received by the given unit and that, if no, issues an instruction to start the reception of a second stream transmitted relatively late; a second receiving unit that, upon receipt of the instruction, starts the reception of the second stream and that receives the second stream corresponding to the given unit of first stream not successfully received and that extracts therefrom a second content data; and a reproduction control unit that, if no, reproduces, based on the second content data, a substitute-display content and that, if yes, reproduces, based on the first content data, a usual-display content at a timing when the substitute-display content otherwise would be reproduced. |
