PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent element having high quality and high fine pattern without possibility of remaining of a solvent or the like. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing the electroluminescent element has: a process wherein a substrate in which a transparent substrate, an ITO layer, and a photosensitive resin layer are laminated in this order is placed in an airtight container in which pressure and temperature are controllable, and a kind of volatile material is vaporized, adhered to a photosensitive resin, and permeated and dispersed into the interior in which the kind of volatile material is permeated and dispersed, and a dispersed phase is formed; a process wherein a photosensitive resin layer is exposed and the phase composed of a phase consisting of a mutually non-soluble exposed part, and a phase consisting of a non-exposed part forms a phase-separation structure; a process wherein a substrate having the photosensitive resin layer in which a kind of volatile material is permeated and dispersed is placed in the airtight container in which pressure and temperature are controllable, another kind of volatile material is vaporized, the volatile material is adhered to the non-exposed part or the exposed part of the photosensitive resin, permeated and dispersed in the interior, and a dispersed phase in which another kind of volatile material is permeated and dispersed is formed; and a process wherein an electrode is formed in each dispersed phase.
