PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical device, which is full of versatility. SOLUTION: The method includes forming a grid-like barrier wall 7 to form a plurality of sectional areas P of a substantially equal size, and then forming, by means of droplet discharge, a filling member 10 for adjusting the area in a part except openings 5e in sectional areas P2, P3. Namely the area of a predetermined sectional area in a display area V can be differed from the area of other sectional areas by the filling member 10. Therefore, after due consideration of the size of the display area V, the type of solution to be used, drying conditions or the like, barrier wall setting can be optimized so that the sectional area P is broader at the periphery of the display area V than at the center thereof.
