PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal detecting method to properly detect an STW signal component included in a wobble signal. SOLUTION: The signal detecting method includes: inputting a wobble signal detected from a wobble track of an optical disk, generating an n-fold sine correlation detection signal from the wobble signal and a reference n-fold sine wave (n>0), and detecting a first STW (Saw Tooth Wobble) modulated component and a second STW modulated component from the n-fold sine correlation detection signal, based on a threshold generated from an MSK (Minimum Shift Keying) modulated component included in a first position of the wobble signal and an unmodulated component included in a second position anterior to the MSK modulated component.
