The invention relates to a cleaning system (13) for cleaning components (14), particularly for cleaning motor vehicle body components before painting of the motor vehicle body components in a painting system, having a) a cleaning station (15) in which the components (14) are cleaned, b) a transport path (16) along which the components (14) to be cleaned are transported through the cleaning station (15), c) an interior cleaning device (22, 23, 26, 27) for cleaning the interior of the components (14), and d) an exterior cleaning device (20, 21, 24, 25) for cleaning the exterior of the components (14). The invention proposes that e) the interior cleaning device (22, 23, 26, 27) and the exterior cleaning device (20, 21, 24, 25) are both disposed together in the same cleaning station (15), so that the cleaning of the interior and of the exterior of the components (14) takes place in the same cleaning station (15).
