<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which performs exposure control using defocus amounts of a plurality of focus detection areas, and can achieve continuous shooting with a correct exposure without decreasing continuous shooting speed. <P>SOLUTION: In continuous shooting processing, the defocus amounts of respective focus detection areas and the reliabilities of the defocus amounts are detected from information of the plurality of focus detection areas of an imaging field. Weightings are determined on the basis of the reliabilities and defocus amounts in a plurality of photometry areas corresponding to the plurality of focus detection areas. If weightings can be determined, exposure is determined by calculating the weighted average of photometric values obtained in the plurality of photometry areas using the determined weightings. If weightings cannot be determined, weightings are determined using the defocus amounts detected in a shooting operation prior to the current one during the continuous shooting. If there is no defocus amount that has been detected in the shooting operation prior to the current one, weightings are determined to weight the photometry area at a prescribed position of the imaging field. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
