摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC-driven light emitting diode operable by being connected to AC power at a single chip level. <P>SOLUTION: This AC-driven light emitting diode includes: a plurality of light emitting cells formed on a single substrate; a plurality of wires for electrically connecting the plurality of light emitting cells to one another; and a first series array and a second series array each including the plurality of light emitting cells which are connected in series to one another through the plurality of wires. In the AC-driven light emitting diode, each of the plurality of light emitting cells includes: a first conductivity type semiconductor layer formed on the substrate; a second conductivity type semiconductor layer arranged on one region of the first conductivity type semiconductor layer; and an active layer. The each of the plurality of light emitting cells is arranged by being separated from the other adjacent light emitting cells at different distances in a range of 10-30 &mu;m in the vertical direction and the horizontal direction; and each of the plurality of wires electrically connects the first conductivity type semiconductor layer of one of the light emitting cells to the second conductivity type semiconductor layer of another adjacent light emitting cell; and the first series array and the second series array are operated by being connected to the AC power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
