<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam welding apparatus and a laser beam welding method which feed a filler wire to an adequate position in a molten pool, stabilize welding and perform the excellent laser beam welding of two metal plates even if the inner shape of the molten pool is changed when performing the laser beam welding of two vertically superposed metal plates while feeding the filler wire. <P>SOLUTION: When performing the laser beam welding of the two vertically superposed metal plates W1, W2 while feeding the filler wire X, upper and lower surfaces of a molten pool are imaged; the inner shape of the molten pool is estimated based on the imaged upper and lower surface shapes of the molten pool, and the advancing position and the advancing angle of the filler wire X with respect to the molten pool are adjusted based on the estimated inner shape of the molten pool. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
