<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a cold cathode discharge tube including a novel and inexpensive Fe-based alloy with a high sputtering resistance and a high processability and provide a cold cathode discharge tube using the electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode for the cold cathode discharge tube contains, by mass percentage, 0.1-14.0% of W and also contains Fe and impurities for the remainder. The electrode for the cold cathode discharge tube may further contain 0.1-7.0% of Mo by mass percentage.
